When you see bad things happening in your culture, it's because (citizens or non-citizens) voted the wrong way.. or an ungodly leader was installed.
When you see really terrible things happening in your culture, it's because people love darkness rather than light.
Is your country under judgment? It is a good day to repent of sin and pray.
"And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.” John 3:19-20When a nation begins to crumble, when a society begins to collapse, it isn’t merely a political problem—it’s a spiritual one too.
The real spiritual sickness beneath every broken culture is a rejection of the Light. Jesus declared, “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).
Every moral decline or crash is rooted in that truth. When people turn away from God and the Word of God ..the dark shadows lengthen over the land.
As Vance Havner once warned, “At the rate we are going, we will soon reach the point where sin is a crime and crime is not.” When a society celebrates what God condemns, it’s because hearts have grown calloused to His voice. The apostle Paul described it perfectly: “Although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him… their foolish hearts were darkened” (Romans 1:21).
Leadership reflects on the people’s loves. When citizens chase after idols—i.e., power, money, pleasure, or self—God often allows leaders into power who mirror those same desires.
Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”
Terrible things happen in cultures that have turned their backs on God and his written truth in the Bible, because they have flat-out loved the darkness more than the light.
Yet even in the night, God still calls His regenerated Christians to shine. “You are the light of the world,” Jesus said, “a city set on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). We are not called to focus on or curse at the darkness but to carry the flame.
“A lighthouse does not fight the darkness; it just shines.” ~ Charles Spurgeon
George Barna’s recent research reveals that only about 6% of Americans today hold a biblical worldview—meaning that for 94%, decisions are made without the anchor of Scripture.
Can you hear Isaiah’s words echoing across our Land and headlines: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness” (Isaiah 5:20). But there’s real hope in Jesus Christ, as we turn to Him one by one—because God still preserves a remnant here.
“The only reason we don’t have revival is because we are willing to live without it.” ~ Leonard Ravenhill
True spiritual awakening and revival for believers begins not in the White House, but in God’s house. It begins when one heart repents and believes in Jesus.. and starts to walk humbly before God according to the word.
Think about that old hymn that reminds us, “Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.”
When believers fix their eyes on Christ and live out truth with courage, those of this culture will take notice. Light doesn’t argue with darkness—it simply shines and exposes it.
“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” ~ John Piper
That satisfaction from having a close relationship of obedience in Christ becomes a bright torch in an ever-growing, darker world.
Jesus is the ultimate Solution for people, no matter the problem.
The cure for cultural collapse isn’t political revolution, but a spiritual awakening that spawns revival..even renewal here. Revival begins when one soul at a time steps out of the shadows on into the Light—“For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8). Have you done that yet? What are you waiting for?
No religion or cult can overcome the light. Darkness can’t overcome the Light—it never has, and it never will (John 1:5). So let’s not fear the night; let’s shine until the dawn breaks.
Be prayerful. I do like to expose bad policies and lawbreakers that are putting others in danger. God's word addresses this cuz God is love and love.. always protects.
It's a good day to be a witness and give witness for Christ. Today, I'm not going to put off thinking about changing the world that's sliding down a slippery slope, I'm just going to focus on the Lord and changing my world ..assisting one person at a time today. Who can I pray for, help.. who can I personally bless like in a tangible way today?
Funny thing is—if we all walk with the Lord and do His will—the world around us will change.
