Dallas-Fort Worth in North Texas is as broad as Texas pride and warm as its genuine hospitality.
Stretch your imagination wide, because the Metroplex is rising fast, soon to stand as America’s third largest, alive with opportunity, grit and grace, the kind that dares you to dream big and stay awhile.
The spirit here feels a little like David with a sling, full of faith, bold and unafraid, trusting God with the stones we utilize.
Visitors often remark that Dallas strides forward with style while keeping one boot rooted in the heritage of the ole West. One moment you are surrounded by shimmering glass towers, the next you catch the scent of barbecue richer than a mother's love.
Cowboy hats tip in greeting here, doors are opened wide showing respect, and history walks beside you like an old friend. North Texas has always been like that, with some old-world charm beside the modern luxury. It's a place where you can ride the trails literally, wander in art museums, discover MICHELIN-recognized cuisine, and end your day beside a skyline breathing with gold at sunset.
Dallas seems like a feast for the curious soul.
I enjoy the Art (audio and visual) that pulses through the Dallas Museum of Art, the music rises from The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, and conversations swirl in aqustic guitar entertained coffee houses. You will enjoy the theaters and galleries too. How could we not?
Food lovers will find no shortage of passion plated with precision, from fine art dining to beloved Tex-Mex institutions, each dish reminding you that heaven gave us taste buds for joy.
Hubris is bad. We don't want it, but there in Fort Worth is also a pride in this State. It's where far more cowboy hats are donned openly. Step into the Stockyards and you can almost hear the echo of hooves.. and then there they are, the longhorns in the middle of town.
I like the hymn-songs from long ago trails where those cattle drives ended. Here, the West lives on not as a costume, but as memory and identity. Doesn't look like it's changed much at all.
Yes, in one day you can witness longhorn cattle drives, a rodeo, a tour of different museums, and then sit beneath the stars for more live music that stirs the heart like an old campfire story.
Don't forget. Between Dallas and Fort Worth sits Las Colinas, the elegant bridge between those two thriving cities. Its waterfront walks, gleaming towers and peaceful canals create a refined retreat for travelers who hope to rest but still remain close to The Ritz Carlton Resort action. Do you like to Golf? There's the TPC and Cottonwood Valley. Many find it the perfect launching point for western adventure: fifteen or twenty minutes to either downtown, moments from DFW International Airport (6 miles), surrounded by world-class casual Michelin dining, more golf courses, and quiet evening strolls along Lake Carolyn where the city lights stretch towards you, reflect like colored lanterns off the water.
You could spend a week here and barely touch the depths of what this Metroplex offers. Make an ecurrions to the Arboretum, or into Downtown Dallas where Dallas Farmers Market fills baskets with fresh produce and conversation.
Wander toward Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum, where history breathes in whispers and reflection. Visit Neiman Marcus where I went shopping for Queen Elizabeth after rooming her in Rm 820 at the Adolphus Hotel. The store is a Dallas original, then perhaps rest beneath the grandeur of North America's largest Pixilated Screen to watch the Cowboys play with consistency. At the Adolphus Hotel, enjoy tea or a fine dinner that feels like a step back in time.
In the nearby West End you will find lively strolls, The Marketplace, artisan studios, movies and restaurants carrying flavors from Texas smokehouses to Italian kitchens. When you're ready for something beautifully different, Deep Ellum waits with music in its bones, murals on its walls, and blues in its bloodstream. Jazz pours from Sambuca, Tex-Mex joy fills tables at Sol’s Taco Lounge, while late nights invite tales and friends at Blue Cat Blues, Trees, and Club Dada.
For refined shopping and dinner that lingers pleasantly on the memory, explore Knox-Henderson and its charming stretch of boutiques, home décor and long-established eateries. Where youthful laughter gathers, Greenville Avenue runs lively and unashamed, a favorite for college crowds and night owls, with Blue Goose Cantina, Snuffer’s, Teppo, and music venues where the stage lights glow long after midnight.
If you crave something polished, Uptown and Oak Lawn offer stylish bistros, galleries and elegant evenings along McKinney Avenue. One can brunch at Dream Café, admire fine works at The MAC, and finish with dinner at Lawry’s The Prime Rib before slipping into the night like a scene from a novel.
The Metroplex is vast like Psalm 18:19, “He brought me out into a spacious place.” Every neighborhood holds its own voice, its own rhythm, its own welcome. North Texas was built by people who believed in possibility, worked with their hands, prayed with hope, and built high because their vision looked forward.
So take your time. Wander slowly. Eat well. Listen for music spilling out of open doors. Let history speak and modern beauty surprise you. Whether you stand among skyscrapers or beside a longhorn, walk Las Colinas canals or explore Dallas galleries, you will find something here that feels both new and somehow familiar.
Because Dallas-Fort Worth is not simply a place to visit. It is a story you step into. And like all great stories, once you enter, you carry a piece of it home.
Dallas–Fort Worth — this is the place where glass towers catch the sunrise like polished steel, and wide skies remind you just how big God made Texas. They say “Everything’s bigger here,” and somehow it’s true — the portions, the handshakes, the dreams. North Texas isn’t subtle. It shines.
Dallas carries its own rhythm — modern, confident, cosmopolitan — while Fort Worth keeps the spirit of the cowboy alive with the jingle of spurs and longhorns in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Two cities, twenty-five minutes apart, yet worlds that complement like boots and a suit. It’s no wonder this metroplex, now home to nearly 8 million people, is set to become the third largest urban region in America, rising right behind New York and Los Angeles.
* “The stars at night are big and bright — deep in the heart of Texas.”
And when you stand beneath them out by Las Colinas, with gondolas slipping across the Mandalay Canal and horses carved in bronze at Mustangs of Las Colinas, you feel it — that hush of wonder.
Texas has welcomed a whole lot of travelers. Many want to stay!
Americans come hungry.
Dallas is now recognized by the MICHELIN Guide, a badge of culinary honor that says to the world, “Our chefs are artists — take a seat and taste.” From their kitchens come steaks seared like campfire nights and tacos that carry the memory of old frontera trails.
Come curious.
The Dallas Museum of Art, The Sixth Floor Museum, Klyde Warren Park, and The Meyerson Symphony Center wait like pages in a storybook. In Fort Worth, you’ll find The Kimbell, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and Billy Bob’s Texas, where guitars still cry the songs of Willie, Waylon, and Cash.
Come ready to wander.
White Rock Lake, Grapevine, Arbor Hills, Trinity River trails, and state parks beyond offer sun, wind, and the soft sound of cicadas when the day is long. This land holds history — cattle drives, oil booms, and the faith of pioneers. As C.S. Lewis once wrote, “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”
Don't Mess With Texas.
• DFW Airport is larger than Manhattan island — a city within the city.
• North Texas welcomes over 78 million visitors each year — and still feels generous with space.
• Dallas invented the frozen margarita machine, because Texans believe joy should be shared.
• Fort Worth is the only city in the U.S. with a daily cattle drive.
• The official motto of Texas hospitality isn't written, but everyone knows it: “Y’all come back now.”
So take your time, friend. Slow down over barbecue. Linger in a museum. Watch the longhorns cross Exchange Avenue. Sip sweet tea where jazz drifts out of open doors. Whether you're here for a day or a week, North Texas has a way of staying with you — in memory, in appetite, in heart.
