Believer, it kind of reminds me of when I was a novice surfer, way out with a big swell at Salt Creek.
A real Christian is more than likely either entering a trial, right in the middle of a trial, or just exiting a trial, preparing for another one. God allowing a test is so I can learn ..if I pass the test or not.
What's the Purpose of Trials?
- Trials are real: The Apostle Peter teaches that God uses these things through tough seasons to grow believers spiritually, "knocking off the rough edges," and developing character. God wants His kids to reach maturity.
- Trials are real: I have described times of trials with testing as "God's gym"—a place where we believers are broken down a bit in order to be built up. God wants you and me walking stronger in victory with Jesus as Lord.
- Trials are real: Through them, the Holy Spirit encourages us to persevere, going the distance (all the way Home, and to bring others with us). He often advises against wasting suffering, encouraging believers to look to Jesus for God's grace and "mercy" even in the midst of pain.
"Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you. 13 But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that when His glory [filled with His radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may rejoice with great joy. 14 If you are insulted and reviled for [bearing] the name of Christ, you are blessed [happy, with life-joy and comfort in God’s salvation regardless of your circumstances], because the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you [and indwelling you—He whom they curse, you glorify]. 15 Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or a thief, or any sort of criminal [in response to persecution], or as a troublesome meddler interfering in the affairs of others; 16 but if anyone suffers [ill-treatment] as a Christian [because of his belief], he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God [because he is considered worthy to suffer] in this name. 17 For it is the time [destined] for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not respect or believe or obey the gospel of God? 18 And if it is difficult for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the godless and the sinner? 19 Therefore, those who are ill-treated and suffer in accordance with the will of God must [continue to] do right and commit their souls [for safe-keeping] to the faithful Creator." 1 Peter 4:12-19 amp
* Do be controlled by the Spirit in the now - don't be all hampered by the past (1 Pet. 4:1–6). People who have been spiritually born again via true repentance and saving faith in Christ (1:23) should not allow their old life in the flesh and corrupt world system to control them. Cuz of the Cross, the past has been buried, and they are new creatures in Christ. Furthermore, life is too short to waste on godless living, especially when you realize that one day we will all stand before the Judgement-Bar of God.
* Don't be all focused on your past - do be serious about your walk in the present (1 Pet. 4:7–11). No matter how difficult life may be, there is a job to do; and we must be faithful. Take time to pray. Show love to the saints. Use your gifts and talents to serve others. The Lord who gave you the ability will also give you the strength to use it for His glory.
* Do get ready for who and what is coming - lbe prepared for the future (1 Pet. 4:12–19). A “fiery trial” was about to come to the church. Peter told his readers to expect it, use it as an opportunity to witness for Christ, and in all things seek to glorify God. The trial came under the Roman emperor Nero who accused the Christians of burning Rome. The church today faces persecution. Are you prepared?
Sup with pain and suffering persecution then?
The Apostle Peter said that judgment begins at the house (church) of God (1 Pet. 4:17). The first purpose of persecution is to purify the Church so that it (meaning us Christians) will pray and be able to effectively witness to lost people. How else do we discover if they are open to the truth or closed? But persecution is also a warning to the lost. If it starts with us and God judges His own children for their sins, how much more will He judge non-repentant lost sinners! (See Ezek. 9).
“We must endure many hardships to enter the kingdom of God..” Acts 14:22b
"..through many tribulations it behooves us to enter into the kingdom of God." BLB
We have trials that work for us as we submit and follow Jesus (see Romans 8:28-29). Those who refuse to believe outside in the world experience troubles that work against them.
Believer, with pain you can come closer to God, or you can opt to go farther away from him and His church. You can progress or digress spiritually.
"If the righteous will be recompensed on the earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner." Proverbs 11:31. (Pains or no trials today, come to Christ.. or come back to Christ).
